1. What motivated you to create a book review blog?
I was in an on-line Classics Book Club and a few of the people there started blogs. I really enjoyed their blogs and thought it would be a fun way for me to keep track of the books I read and share my love for books with others.

2. What do you find most rewarding about book reviewing?
Getting comments is so much fun. I love it when people who have read my reviews go on to read some of the books I recommend.

3. What types of books do you review?
My favourite genre is historical fiction, so you will see a lot of that on my blog, but I do enjoy literary fiction and the occasional non-fiction.

4. In what genre do you consider yourself to have the most expertise?
Historical Fiction.

5. Is there any type of book that you absolutely will not review?
Fluffy chick lit and Christian lit.

6. Do you accept submissions from self-published authors?
Yes, on occasion. It depends on the book.

7. Do you accept PDF versions or e-books for review?
Not at this time. I can’t curl up with my computer and I don’t have any of the new devices.

8. Can an author guest blog for you?
Most definitely!

9. Do you host book giveaways?
Yes, I just started last month. I love it!

10. Do you interview authors?
I haven’t yet, but would like to. I am very open to it and would welcome it.

11. Do you ever host stops on an organized book tour?
Not yet, but again, I would love to!

12. What is the average turnaround time for a review, from the time the book arrives in your mailbox until the review is posted?
I try really hard to read and get my reviews up within a month or two of receiving the book, if not sooner. I usually prioritize my ARC’s in the order of when they will get published.

13. Do you cross-post reviews to Amazon or other sites?
I currently cross-post my reviews on Amazon.ca.

14. Will you notify an author by email when a review is posted?
If the author gives me their email address I do. Otherwise I send it to the publisher. Often ARC’s arrive with a letter or post card with contact information. I always send in my reviews to the specified contact, when there is one.

15. Do you have any specific requirements for review submission?
Not really, send me an email with title, author, and a description about the book or a link. It’s also good if you can tell me the projected publication date.

16. Where can authors submit review queries and to whom should they be addressed?
Teddy Rose

I try to give the most balanced reviews possible. I will say what I like about a book as well as what I don’t like. I think it’s important to be honest, even if I don’t like a book. I know that authors spend days and even years writing and I honor that as best I can, but with honesty. If you read my previous reviews on my blog, you will get an idea of how I do that.
