1. What motivated you to create a book review blog?
To help me become more thoughtful in my reading; to process and retain what I’ve read

2. What do you find most rewarding about book reviewing?
The dialogue that often ensues between other bloggers/readers and myself. The opportunity to “talk” with and interview authors.

3. What types of books do you review?
Literary fiction, general fiction, historical fiction, social history (see other notes, below), memoir (personal, not celebrity), children’s picture books

4. In what genre do you consider yourself to have the most expertise?
Literary fiction

5. Is there any type of book that you absolutely will not review?
Celebrity memoir, horror/thriller, light chick lit

6. Do you accept submissions from self-published authors?
Yes, after seeing a sample of the writing and a summary of the book

7. Do you accept PDF versions or e-books for review?
no

8. Can an author guest blog for you?
Yes!

9. Do you host book giveaways?
Yes!

10. Do you interview authors?
Yes!

11. Do you ever host stops on an organized book tour?
Yes!

12. What is the average turnaround time for a review, from the time the book arrives in your mailbox until the review is posted?
It depends on how I made contact with the author, when the book will be published and my schedule. I can commit to a date upon submission of the book if wanted.

13. Do you cross-post reviews to Amazon or other sites?
I post on LibraryThing. I do not post reviews on Amazon.com

14. Will you notify an author by email when a review is posted?
Yes, if requested.

15. Do you have any specific requirements for review submission?
In general I need to see an excerpt of the book (writing sample), and a synopsis of the book (back-of-book-blurb); then I will decide if it meets my readership and personal reading “fit”

16. Where can authors submit review queries and to whom should they be addressed? http://www.sheistoofondofbooks.com/contact/

As for non-fiction, I am interested in social history – immigration, movements such as women’s movement and civil rights. Not military history.

My children are avid readers and can help with YA/middle reader reviews (girl age 12, boy age 10). The younger two do picture books and early chapter/easy readers (girl age 6, boy age 4)

I would invite authors/publishers to look at the index of my reviews, and read a few samples: http://www.sheistoofondofbooks.com/book-reviews/
