1. What motivated you to create a book review blog?
I’m a bookworm, but I found myself reading a lot of books and then forgetting that I read them after a few months. So, I decided to make a list of books I’ve read, but as I did this I found myself writing little reviews for them. After that, I decided to open up a blog and just write my reviews there.
2. What do you find most rewarding about book reviewing?
I know you want an answer about the joys of book reviewing and getting books, but for me the most rewarding aspect of writing reviews is improving with Spelling and Grammar. I’ve always had a hard time with it and it isn’t something that comes to me naturally, so with each review and blog entry, I like the feeling that I’m improving as a writer.
3. What types of books do you review?
Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Thrillers, Romantic Suspense, Chic-lit, Historical Fiction, Dramas.
4. In what genre do you consider yourself to have the most expertise?
I would say Urban Fantasy and Thrillers.
5. Is there any type of book that you absolutely will not review?
Erotica.
6. Do you accept submissions from self-published authors?
I have accepted self-published authors in the past, but only if their book interests me.
7. Do you accept PDF versions or e-books for review?
I prefer paperbacks, but if the book sounds like something I’d read I might review it in PDF.
8. Can an author guest blog for you?
Of course.
9. Do you host book giveaways?
Sometimes, in my blog history I’ve only hosted 4 book giveaways.
10. Do you interview authors?
Yes. Though, I haven’t done a lot.
11. Do you ever host stops on an organized book tour?
Yes, I’m currently a part of the Pump up your Book promotion.
12. What is the average turnaround time for a review, from the time the book arrives in your mailbox until the review is posted?
It depends if it’s for review or not. If it’s a book I won, then I’ll wait a bit. If it’s a review copy, I try to finish it either by the week or at the latest within a month.
13. Do you cross-post reviews to Amazon or other sites?
Yep. Along with my blog, I post the reviews on Amazon, Library Thing and the Internet Book Database.
14. Will you notify an author by email when a review is posted?
Only if they ask me to.
15. Do you have any specific requirements for review submission?
As long as it’s in book form, I don’t really have any other requirements.
16. Where can authors submit review queries and to whom should they be addressed?
If an author wishes to contact me, my email is proudbookworm and from there we can hash out the details.
