1. What motivated you to create a book review blog?
I started out with a general blog that I wanted to use to keep my extended family updated on our lives, but then more and more I found myself blogging about books.  My book blogging was threatening to take over my family blog, so I decided to create a blog exclusively for book reviews.

2. What do you find most rewarding about book reviewing?
There are so many great things that I appreciate about book reviewing.  I love reading books before they are released to the public, and of course it is great to receive free books, but I think the most rewarding thing about book reviewing is actually the interaction with readers and other book bloggers.  It’s wonderful to be able to share my opinion and have intelligent discussions about books with other book lovers.

3. What types of books do you review?
I like to review fiction (general fiction, Christian, sci-fi, historical fiction, action-adventure) and non-fiction (memoirs, biographies, politics).  I also review children’s books and am open to reviewing young adult fiction.

4. In what genre do you consider yourself to have the most expertise?
This is a tough question to answer because my reading has always been so eclectic.  If I had to pick the genres I have read the most, I would say historical fiction and memoirs.

5. Is there any type of book that you absolutely will not review?
I will not review horror stories because they scare me too much.

6. Do you accept submissions from self-published authors?
No.

7. Do you accept PDF versions or e-books for review?
Not at this time.

8. Can an author guest blog for you?
Yes!  Guest bloggers are always welcome.

9. Do you host book giveaways?
Yes, I think giveaways are a nice way to introduce readers to new books.

10. Do you interview authors?
I haven’t in the past, but I am open to interviewing authors.

11. Do you ever host stops on an organized book tour?
I have participated in the Hachette Early Birds Blog Tours.

12. What is the average turnaround time for a review, from the time the book arrives in your mailbox until the review is posted?
It really depends on when the book is being published.  I try to time my reviews to be published near the time that the book is published.  Right now I am scheduling reviews two months in advance, so I am accepting books that are due to be published in more than two months.  I try to keep a detailed schedule, that way I don’t end up with ARCs that wait more than a month or two for review.

13. Do you cross-post reviews to Amazon or other sites?
I will cross-post reviews to Amazon or other sites if it is specifically requested.

14. Will you notify an author by email when a review is posted?
If I have received the ARC directly from the author then I will email them when I post the review.  If it comes from the publisher then I usually email the publisher’s representative.

15. Do you have any specific requirements for review submission?
No.

16. Where can authors submit review queries and to whom should they be addressed?
Authors can submit queries to me, Alyce.
